Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 7, 2026
Introduction
Fovly ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Fovly speed reading application for iOS ("the App").
Information We Collect
Fovly is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data:
- Books and reading data: All books you import, reading progress, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync, in which case it is stored in your private iCloud account.
- Subscription information: Your Fovly subscription is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information.
- AI features: When you use AI-powered features (summaries, explanations, quizzes), relevant text excerpts are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. We do not store this data on our servers. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
- Analytics: We collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics (such as feature usage and session duration) to improve the App. This data cannot identify you personally.
How We Use Information
Any information collected is used solely to:
- Provide and maintain the Fovly app experience
- Process AI feature requests (summaries, explanations, quizzes)
- Improve app performance, stability, and user experience
- Understand general, anonymous usage patterns
Data Storage & Security
Fovly stores all reading data locally on your device. When iCloud sync is enabled, data is stored in your private iCloud container, protected by Apple's encryption. We do not operate any servers that store your personal reading data.
Third-Party Services
Fovly integrates with the following third-party services:
- Apple StoreKit: For processing in-app subscriptions. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API: For AI-powered features (summaries, explanations, quizzes). Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Gutendex API: For browsing and downloading free public domain books from Project Gutenberg. No personal data is sent.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your books, reading progress, and settings are stored in your private iCloud container. This data is encrypted by Apple and is only accessible to you. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device settings.
Children's Privacy
Fovly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual books from your Fovly library
- Using the "Reset All Settings" option in Fovly's settings
- Deleting the Fovly app from your device (removes all local data)
- Removing Fovly data from iCloud via Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
